fix problems with TimeMachine backup on openmediavault – set up and troubleshooting

    In Step 6 “Add the Time Machine folder to Samba…”, I suggest that you add an instruction to turn on “Time Machine support”. It appears to be necessary, and I see that it is checked in the graphic under “Now Tighten Access…”

      Thank you Brian – I’m so pleased you appear to have made progress. I’ve credited your emphasis above. Ticking TimeMachine support there adds some lines, ‘fruit lines’ to smb.conf.

      Because a dozen backups is never enough I also use a readymade Docker container (mbentley). It creates the Timemachine environment on a folder in your drive and limits its size. It’s no less good or better in practice but because it’s ‘Docker in proxmox’ the configuration can be easily backed up.
